The Workflow Pattern, Composed

Square, as we’ve told you over the last 4 Droidcons, has adopted the Workflow pattern - it’s now running about nearly two thirds of Square’s flagship Android codebase! This year, Workflows meet Compose, and they’re getting along great!

Come hear how we explored new ways to make Workflows more Compose-y, how easy it is to mix Compose and Android-based Workflow UIs, and how writing your own industrial-strength navigation library will teach you more than you ever wanted to know about your UI toolkit.

To whet your appetite, here’s a blog post we wrote about this work. Some things have changed, and so if you even if you’ve read the post you’ll want to come to the talk to see how it turned out and get more details! https://developer.squareup.com/blog/jetpack-compose-support-in-workflow/

If reading isn’t your thing, check out our talk from 2019: https://www.droidcon.com/media-detail?video=362741019

Zach built Android apps at Square for over six years before joining Google to work on Jetpack Compose.
